Leven Valley Vineyard

Cool-Climate Wine, Picnics & Leven Valley Views

A little off the beaten track and well worth the detour, Leven Valley Vineyard is a boutique family-run vineyard tucked into the hills of Gunns Plains, around 20 minutes south of Ulverstone.

Set on a warm, north-facing slope overlooking the Leven River and surrounding valley, the vineyard produces small-batch cool-climate wines from grapes grown right here on the estate. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are at the heart of the vineyard, with Rosé and changing vintages adding to the line-up.

Drop into the Cellar Door for a tasting, grab a glass of your favourite and then make yourself comfortable. One of the nicest things about Leven Valley Vineyard is that you’re welcome to bring your own picnic and settle into the sun-filled garden overlooking Gunns Plains.

The vines here are still hand-picked, with friends, locals and volunteers coming together for harvest each year. It’s small-scale, hands-on and very much part of the charm of visiting a boutique North West Tasmanian vineyard.

Take the slower road inland from Ulverstone, pack a few local goodies and give yourself time to enjoy the view – this is one Tasting Trail stop that’s made for lingering.
