Cradle Mountain Honey & Meadery

Tasmanian Honey, Mead & Tastings in Sheffield

Honey is just the beginning at Cradle Mountain Honey & Meadery in the heart of Sheffield. Taste your way through pure Tasmanian honey, mead and honey-inspired drinks, with more than a century of local beekeeping history behind the experience.

Formerly known as Sheffield Honey Farm, the story here stretches back to 1898. Today, the Sheffield site is home to Cradle Mountain Honey, with Tasmanian Leatherwood, Manuka, Kunzea, meadow and gum honeys among the varieties to discover.

Then there’s the mead. Taste Taverner’s Tasmanian meads and honey-inspired drinks, including their Whisky Honey Mead – a very Tasmanian combination of honey and single malt whisky.

This is a working honey business too, with honey extraction and processing happening onsite. Drop into the shop for a tasting, learn a little more about what comes out of the hive and stock up on honey and local products to take home.

Right in Sheffield and on the way towards Cradle Mountain, it’s an easy – and very tasty – stop to add to a day exploring the murals, Mount Roland and this beautiful pocket of North West Tasmania.
